If you have been a member here at ET.com since the early days, you know how far we have come with The News. First it started close to 6 years ago with TidBits, an e-newsletter. Then I tried to make it web based static page on ET.com where you had to scroll forever to see all the information and that worked better than emailing a huge file with all those images, but now this is the best. I’m excited because this new format allows you to scope out just what you are interested in and in a matter of seconds.
- The News is a virtual library of information. You select only the topics of interest, without being forced to read volumes of information. Here at The News you have four ways to search to instantly find the topics you want (pages, catagories, tags and the entire site search tool)
- It is highly organized for you. This new format allows me to have fixed pages of info for you- mini webpages (pages: ET.com site updates, Vintage Toenail Price Guide, Toenail Q & A, etc) and to organize topics by subject for you (categories), plus the odd looking words in different sizes you see down the left side of the page is for you to click on and be taken to all the post with those topics (tags). And on top of all that is a search function for the entire News area of ET.com.
- Easy for you and easy for me! The News now provides me with a superior ability for adding important content to ET.com without being forced to build a “new webpage” in ET.com. For example, I have long wanted to add an area about Counterfeits. It would be a major to do to have it built out in the main area of ET.com, much like The List and Recent Sales were…big deals, code/database set up, time and $$.
- Now I can quickly post a blot on a counterfeit I run across and classify it in the Counterfeits category here. You simply click the Counterfeit category and instantly see all post about counterfeits. It sure beats searching through a 1000 page encyclopedia or knife book when you are really only interested in a single topic.
- The News is spontaneous and responsive to the day to day happenings.
- The News will have pictures, video and audio topics.
