Interesting stuff. I have just found a nice pair of scissors with the lockwood brothers stamp on them.
But am unable to identify their special purpose. They have one conventional blade and one very broad blade with a raised sheild/ catcher for something.
any idea what they are for.
              thanks. Tony B Carlisle.

I ran across this research whilst looking into a Scottish dirk in my collection. It is stamped with th C+X over Lockwood Bros over Sheffield as you mentioned. It is also marked in VERY small letters Valentine over Perth, they seem to be a maker of surgical instruments mid 19th century. Do you suppose Lockwood Bros. bought blades from them and stamped their name on the finished product?

As a descendant of the G.F. Lockwood I found this quite fascinating, I was not aware that Lockwoods ever made such a knife,

I found your articl very informative and interesting. you know, I think the good thing about collecting pocket knives is we'll never run out of different knives to collect or or knowledge about them. again thanks, Henry
