Case XX USA 10 Dot with Red bone handles?
Did you notice the eBay auction about a week ago that was a 10 dot Case XX USA? The seller reported it to have red bone handles. I questioned it immediately. We know Case used bone up to the dotted series, but I wasn’t aware of bone handles for any of the dotted series. I do have a transition bone XX USA. I contacted W R Case to see if they could help me on this. Here is their response- Scott, all the reference books I have consulted have only listed or shown 6250’s from that era as having wood handles. Jim - Consumer Relations. I asked the seller to email me close ups of the handles and found two things: 1) The handle on the front looked like it had been colored. There was fill that had been put around the pins and it had been colored red and the fill didn’t match the handle.
2) The rear handle did not match. Sometimes there may be a slight variation between the front and back, but this was night and day. There was no doubt this was a counterfeit. A reworked Case XX USA 10 dot.
