Case Handle Materials Article
How about that article by Gary Moore in the the July 07 editon of Knife World?
As you can imagine, I have a preference for articles about anything old relating to cutlery co.’s and knives. Well, this article is all about old knife handles (scales, as they are properly called). Gary does an excellent job outlining the various handle materials used pre-1970 by Case. He delves into Case Brothers, the Winterbottom Co. (producers of the old Winterbottom bone used by Case and others), the Rogers Manufacturing Co. -makers of Rogers bone, etc. These topics are music to my ears.
I simply wish KW would have done more of a pictorial article using photos of each example along with the narrative, instead of some samples. It is good, but I like the detail and want to see each variation produced in each era discussed.
On another note, yesterday I had some time on my hands and when back in time reading the back issues of TidBits of ET.com. If you like snippets about specific toenails, cutlery co.’s, some attempts at humor and book reviews written from 2003 thru 2005 then make sure you visit Archives .
I did find one article I need to add to about Case Bro’s. masterblade etching and stamping. I need to check a few things and then will correct it in a future post here in The News.
