Tidioute: A Town with an Edge

David Anthony delivers yet again, this time with Tidioute: A Town with an Edge.

If you haven’t gotten a copy of David’s book yet, do yourself a favor and buy it for yourself for Valentines Day.

David is one of my favorite authors of anything related to pocketknife history. He has authored several excellent articles for Knife World that I just loved…he always fills this work with extreme historic fact and relevant info for us.

His latest work Tidioute: A Town with an Edge is consistent with the quality work he has built his reputation on. We elephant toenail collectors will value this book, as many a high quality toenail was produced in Tidioute, particular Union Cutlery Co. toenails stamped Union Razor/Union Cutlery Co. Then in 1910 was voted by their board to move to Orleans, NY. Union Razor and early Cut. Co. toenails rank high in my list of favorite brands, particularly the ebony handled “Razor.”

Don’t let me cause you to think this book is just about Union Cut. Co, because David’s book is rich in the history of Tidioute and the cutlery firms that called that town home, in addition to a price guide and handy Tidioute cutlery time line and reprint of a 1912-24 Union Cut. Co catalog (with toenail!).

Thanks David for your contribution to our wonderful hobby of knife collecting. I have always loved getting a feel for “the life and times” of what it was like back with toenails were made and folks actually carried them around 1902 and afterwards.

You can order a copy from Knife World.
