Hello, I found your website for this knife, and am in need of guidance. Normally would go to ebay with the knife, but would listen to your advice about that.Is it possible to date the knife?? Shown exactly as found, very straight, no cracks in bone?? handle, not rusty but stained. Pivots tight, stiff. A nifty thing!!I look forward to hearing from you,

Could have been between 1900 and 1907ish. C. Platts made the swellcenter and presumably made it on contract for WR Case. Then in 1905 W R Case and Sons bought C Platts Sons and probably continued making the swellcenter for a few years after that.

I would say the value is probably between $400 to $700. Just a guess through. If you go to the past sales in note on my website you will find a couple of old swellcenters that sold and their condition and value.
